About Me

Hi I’m Emily...

Hi! I’m Emily a Nurse Practitioner student, runner, coffee fanatic, traveler, and healthy living enthusiast.  This will be the place to come when you are looking for ideas to transform your health. Pieces may include anything from scientific article reviews, recipes, essential oil DIYs,  and wellness  or study tips.I graduated in May from St. Norbert College with Degrees in Biology & Psychology, and a minor in Spanish. Throughout my college years I was a two sport athlete in Cross Country and Track. I am now attending Marquette University in the Fall of 2020 to get my Masters in Science of Nursing and my Nurse Practitioner licensure. Because of this, I recently moved to Wauwatosa with my boyfriend and am enjoying big city living, but my heart is always in the Arizona mountains.

The reason I have started this website & blog is to help others navigate through their health journey, something I wish I would have had. I was a pretty health kid until mid high school. Thats when everything started going downhill. I began experience some stomach pain and bloating around my Junior year. During this time, I was also passing out at random times and places and no one could figure out why or how to prevent it form happening.  I was poked and prodded, but never really received any answers.  Fast forward to my freshman year of college and my stomach was a WRECK. I would wake up with a flat stomach and with an hour of waking it would look like I was 6 months pregnant. Not only did the bloating make me very self conscious, but it was super uncomfortable that I didn't want to eat or do anything. I would also get severe stomach spasms that would leave me curled up on the floor crying. My entire first semester of college was spent visiting doctors that told me I was just stressed, constipated, or that it was in my head. After 6 frustrating months for myself and my parents, one night in the emergency department, a physician recommended I get my gallbladder checked out. It turns out my gallbladder was only functioning at 14% and I had it removed. I dreamt and hoped it would take away all of my problems.

Fast forward a year and although, the surgery definitely helped decrease the severe bloating I experienced daily, I wasn't healed. There was more going on than just my gallbladder. I was anxious and unsure about why my digestion wasn't improving. By this point my body was tremendously inflamed and I had gained 30 pounds of pure puffiness from the inflammation. I was crying for help on the inside and outside, having no energy at all, not sleeping well, and hardly eating due to stomach pain and bloating. My mom had then set up an appointment for me with an Integrative Medicine Physician. After seeing so many providers and getting let down consistently, my hopes weren't high for this visit either, but I was wrong. This physician listened to me & saw me holistically, as a whole person with many moving parts, not just symptoms. She transformed my diet and had me remove toxins from my life, which included hopping off of birth control (that I was on for no reason besides my high school doctor told me it would help with cramps). I am someone who has always eaten healthy, but this diet consisted of all plants and 0 gluten and dairy which I have grown to love and it has worked for my body.

After 6 months of hard work on my diet and looking at data from my stool tests to supplement, I was seeing tremendous improvement in my inflammation and my weight began to decrease back to normal. This is where I really started to believe in integrative medicine and dove all of my extra energy into researching it as well as functional medicine. At this point, I knew about the detrimental effects the toxins in our homes and products can have on our health, so I decided to ditch all of my toxic products. I searched and searched for a company that was right for me & checked all of my health needed boxes, which was Young Living. I bought an essential oils starter kit in 2018 from my good friend Emily and it has changed my life entirely. I have completely gotten rid of all my toxic endocrine disrupting products and exchanged them for natural, non-toxic, plant-based ones. I loved the company so much that I decided to jump in and do the business myself. You can check out my Essential Oils page for more info on Young Living!

There have been so many other pieces to my health journey including some traumatic losses, a bad experience of detox acne which I still have scars from, and hormones that went wild. Experiencing all of these health issues allowed me to try many treatments as well from acupuncture, massage, reiki, counseling, a nutritionist, functional medicine physicians, and lots of supplements. This gives me lots of knowledge to try and help others along their health journey.  I am now at my normal weight, my skin is back to glowing, my hormones are balanced, I rarely bloat, my digestion is back on track,  I am no longer passing out, I sleep super well, my stress has decreased, and I can run faster than ever before and have the energy to workout daily. All of this amazing transformations from a new diet, supplements, amazing integrative & functional medicine physicians and nurses, essential oils, and natural products.

Enough about me, let’s start looking into alternative ways to get you feeling better and running on wellness.
